Multi Store Communications via the Internet-- “SCSIP”
SCS handles multi-location communications using Client/Server Technology(SCSIP) for the POS(using Secure sockets Layers) and Terminal Services technology for the Back Office. This technology allows immediate update of the Head Office(or DC) system and direct access to Head Office records from remote locations. Satelite clerks can check the availability of products in any store.
No additional software is necessary since SCSIP transfers its data(encrypted and password protected) over the internet to a designated IP Address. The remote locations can have any version of Windows from XP and up. Only designated computers will have access to the Head Office server under username and password authentication giving a totally secure environment.
Transactions are written directly to the Head Office Server as they occur if the Server is On Line. If it is not On Line, then transactions are saved until it comes on line . Cash stations are fully functional if the server is Off Line.
Terminal Services allows very quick response times on the Head Office Server. Store personnel have controlled access to APSW running on the Server. There is therefore no chance of a difference in the numbers seen at the satellite location and those seen at Head Office.
SCSIP greatly simplifies Co-operative purchasing and inter-store transfers. For Example: Head office can create Purchase Orders; the store can review it and modify it as necessary; Head office then sends the order to the supplier and updates the P.O. for any price changes etc. ; The store receives the order and confirms prices and quantities; The store or Head Office can then make any retail price changes and print the shelf and/or Price Labels.
Requirements are:
· A significant processor for the Head Office Server or for each DC.
· High Speed Internet access at all stores.
· A dedicated IP address for the Head Office or DC.
· Purchase of Multi Store option—if not already purchased.
Advantages are:
Coming soon: Access to Head Office server from any Web Browser including Cel Phones.
